16th January 2023

In this article, we will look at blogging, its types, and importance, how to create or start a blog, who should create a blog, common and best blogging platforms of 2023, and much more. If you are still reading this, then it means you want to know more about this topic. At the end of your reading, you will decide if it’s good for you to earn extra cash online blogging. Okay, let’s head on!

What Is Blogging?

To me, blogging is a process of content creation and sharing. I am a blogger since I write and post blog content regularly. The modern word, “blog” came from the term, “web blogging” which refers to the process of sharing one’s journal on the web. It’s a publishing process that happens periodically.

WordPress is one of the best platforms for content creation, management, and blogging. There are many platforms like this today such as Medium, Blogger (by Google), and much more. If you can create content, original content like this, then you can share it with your readers through a blogging platform like WordPress.

“The definition of blogging is the process of writing a blog, an online journal in which you share your thoughts about a particular subject with readers.”

There’s even a free version of WordPress, I meant, free hosting. WordPress as open-source software is free for life. But the hosting package is not free. Web hosting refers to renting a server for your content. The wordpress.com website can host your files for free for life if you don’t want to upgrade.

First, you have to write a blog post on any topic of your choice. Second, you have to create your blog account and then log in to your account using a computer or smartphone. Third, you need to then copy your content from your word processor such as Microsoft Word, and then paste it into your blogging platform’s editor. Finally, you need to format, edit, set categories and keywords for the post, and then either schedule it or post it now.

Ah, I’ll give you more details on how to create a blog account later on in the post.

Types of Modern Blogging

Danielle Willatt has shared 13 of these blogging types such as personal brand, lifestyle, corporate, fashion or beauty, finance, sports, travel, tech, parenting, gaming, design, health & fitness blog categories. However, there’s more to this. Yet, for our purpose, we have to stick around these points. This means you can write about anything as long as you know what you are writing about. There is no limit to what you can blog about.

The ones Danielle mentioned and explained in the post you referred to above are the most common types of blogging at the time of this writing. The post was updated on 15th November 2022, and I wrote this post just a day later.

I recommend you carefully read through those types and see if you have an interest in any of them. From there, you might start your very own blog and even earn money doing the blogging stuff. Oh, I do earn money as you read this blog post right now depending on some factors.

The Importance of Blogging

Is it really important to know about blogging? Yep, I’m assuming it is since you are here reading this shit. If indeed what you want to share with the world is important to you, there you go! It’s as important as we can ever imagine. I know that what I am sharing with you here is very important to both of us, or, at least, it’s very important to me.

I believe not everything I know is known by everyone, and I feel the need to share my knowledge before I expire. I want to inspire you before I get expired. It’s good if you also can “Aspire to inspire before you expire.” – Eugene Bell Jr.

If you think like Eugene Bell, then that’s how important it is for you to make use of this blogging technology to do your very best. Oh, I love to be inspired! In the same way, I know how important it is for me to inform, instruct, and possibly educate others on the topics I know about.

Well, writing and posting these posts doesn’t mean I know more than the average man or woman; what it means is my desire to share what I know with the world as stated above and in most of my other writings.

For me, writing and posting these posts is crucial. I do it because I feel joy in the writing process. I feel joy in the publishing process because I know someone in need is going to read this and he or she is going to be inspired.

If I can help at least one person in my lifetime, that’s great! That might be the very reason why I was born. Jesus said he came to preach His message, and that’s why He was born (Mark 1:38). You also have a purpose, I believe, and you can find that purpose. The very reason why you are reading may be because you want to get helped so that you can help others in your reach.

Ah, there are more than a dozen reasons why sharing your ideas is important.

Who Should Create A Blog?

Now, who the hell am I to share these posts with the world? Well, if I don’t who else do I want to do it for me? Anyway, there are so many bloggers already. However, my piece counts, doesn’t it? Maybe you can tell me what you think about it at the end of this article.

Oh, yes, you are the one to create your blog system if you are convinced you can do it. I am not here to try to convince you that you are a blogger, but I think my points can help you think about it. This means you might have already been thinking about writing a blog post but you don’t know how. Or, you fear what your readers will think, say, or do about your post.

Whatever the situation, I am here to tell you that anyone can create a blog, and you can be that anyone or someone. However, you don’t have to force yourself into it if you don’t feel like it. In my experience, I have met many people who admire almost anything and always want to do anything. This doesn’t work.

Everything takes a process. It’s a process to write and post an article to the web or blog. Some people write on their computers and they only post when they want to. Others write their articles live on the blog and they either schedule them or they post them as soon as possible.

First, you need to know how to write in any human language, including Nuer and Dinka, and then find a way to write. You might want to type or write on paper. It’s double work for me to write on paper before I type on a computer. For that reason, I have learned how to type directly into the computer from my head instead of writing on paper.

Ah, the world keeps evolving, isn’t it?

Many years ago, people didn’t have computers or smartphones to type on, but now they have, and they are getting better and better at making new devices. They also get better at using those devices. Do you now see why you need to know how to use a computer? I have some free computer books that you can download here.

How Do You Create A Blog?

It’s a process, but not that long. The process is simple, but only if you like it. This is why I was asking you to first do some self-assessment. It’s not too hard to know what you like and what you don’t is it? For example, you already know if you enjoy the writing process or not if you are reading this article.

Creating a blog or a website starts with the writing process. You must first be a writer before you do so in an honest and legal way. I am saying this because, with technology, almost nothing is impossible. People can sell you content, or they can write it for you if you pay them, and you can still post it as your own. But in the real sense, is it yours?

Write the content

Writing your content is the first and very important step out of several other steps. You can choose whatever works for you such as writing on paper or typing directly into your word processing software. As I said earlier, it matters what works for you.

Choose a blogging platform

Oh, there are many of them these days, and many are still to come. But for me, WordPress is the go-to tool I would recommend for anyone starting out blogging. This is because this platform is great for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and many other cool functions you will definitely need.

Plan your content

It is one thing to write and another thing to publish content. How often do you want your articles to go live? For me, the goal, “Every Monday An Article” has been a reality since August 2020. In fact, I knew that this article will go live on 16th January 2022 two months before publishing. You can also plan and schedule your own blog posts.

You don’t need to publish new posts every hour. That’ll be great if you can. But quality is better than quantity. Also, everything takes a habit. Everything takes time and effort, or I should say, every good and valuable thing needs time and planning.

Publish your content

Last but not least, publish your content. That means you have to now use your content management system such as WordPress. There, you will be able to write, edit, design, format, and publish your new post.

Hurray!

You’re published! But hey, don’t jump yet. You know it takes work to get there, but the good news is that you know the steps now. I am giving a map here, not the actual steps of creating content. There’s a lot of content online about how to write almost anything. I advise you to look into those posts with details.

However, the map is all you need first before you zoom into smaller roads, streets, homes, and addresses. In the same way, you need this information to guide you through the process. But about writing, I don’t think any article can teach us much. The best way to learn writing is to write. We learn it by doing. We learn it by making our hands dirty. This is what I was told, and this is what I have learned over the years as well. You can learn how to write by picking up your laptop and starting your word processor and beginning the journey, right now, right here!

Hey, that’s not about blog creation! I know. There is no blog without these steps. A blog is only a platform. It’s only an environment where you share your work with the world. Therefore, content is the king as someone rightly said.

Blog Creation Steps

Summary

In short, we have learned a lot about blogging in this article. The question now remains: are you a blogger? Do you think you can try out this skill? Yep, your faith will make you get started. You can start by writing an article. You can do this your way. You can write it on paper. You can write it on the computer.

You can even write an article on the blogging platform itself, and this is all perfect if it works for you. All we need to do is to learn how to create content and then post it for our readers to see and read it. If you love it, go for it, now! If you don’t like writing, just keep reading. Good readers are the backbone. We writers need you badly even though some of us will still write even if they are their own content readers.
